Jarred Vanderbilt Vacations in Tokyo Following NBA Campaign
After a grueling 82-game regular season and playoff run with the Utah Jazz, forward Jarred Vanderbilt decided to unwind in Tokyo, Japan this offseason. The 24-year-old was spotted landing at Haneda Airport earlier this week with his girlfriend.
Vanderbilt is coming off his best statistical season yet, averaging 8.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while starting 60 out of 64 games played. His gritty play and commitment to defense endeared him to Jazz fans as the team finished fifth in the competitive Western Conference.
While in Tokyo, some of the key sites Vanderbilt is expected to visit include the Tokyo Skytree, Sensoji Temple, the Tokyo National Museum, and Ueno Park. Being a foodie, he will likely indulge in sushi, ramen, yakitori, and wagyu beef.
With a newly signed 3-year, $13 million dollar contract, Vanderbilt has the means to enjoy an exotic overseas vacation before training camp opens in September. The Minnesota native credited his breakout year to focusing on rest and recovery, so this trip aligns nicely with his overall regimen.
As the Jazz look to build on this year’s playoff run, Vanderbilt will play a pivotal role with his versatility and wing defense. But for now, pictures from his Instagram show he is relishing Tokyo’s sights – a perfect recharge before grinding for 82 more games.
