Police discovered that a missing former NFL player’s mother, age 73, had been discovered dead in an Illinois creek.
Family members notified the Maywood Police Department on Saturday that they were unable to locate or get in touch with Myrtle Brown, 73, or her 35-year-old son Sergio Brown.
A search for missing persons was started after the news. On Saturday, Myrtle Brown’s body was discovered in a creek not far from her house. Officials determined that she was the victim of an assault, and that her death was a homicide.
Police are currently searching desperately for the seven-season NFL player and information on what happened to him and his mother.

Sheila Simmons, Myrtle Brown’s sister, revealed to WGN that she last spoke with her on September 14th.
