According to Science Alert, what was found was allabogdanite, a phosphate mineral known to science several decades ago through a meteorite that fell in Russia.

This mineral has compositions and crystal structures that are completely different from Earth materials. It was later found in several other meteorites and was confirmed to be characteristic material from alien worlds.

The research was led by crystallographer Sergey Britvin from the University of St. Petersburgh (Russia) said this is the first time allabogdanite has been discovered in material from the Earth itself, specifically in ancient sediments in the Negev desert, an area just near the southwest coast of the Dead Sea.

While this allabogdanite did not come from space, the team believes it was born during an ancient cataclysmic event. Because this special material can only form under extremely high pressure, such as the violent impact of a large meteorite from a very long time ago, it does not leave any traces of impact. in the surrounding area.

Another theory is that it was born during a certain upheaval in the Earth’s mantle. Geological processes accidentally brought rocks containing allabogdanite to the Negev desert area. However, no clear evidence of this was found.

In an article published in American Mineralogist, scientists expressed hope that more allabogdanite belonging to Earth will be found elsewhere, thereby providing enough data to clarify the origin of this strange mineral.
